ABOUT  ST.  PETERS.....

Bob & Mary with Guadalupe
Pilgrimage in Mexico

We are a family business based in London, England.

Bob had been a Pilgrim to Lourdes since 1966, and was a titular member of the Hospitalitie of Our Lady of Lourdes. He was also Chief Brancardier of the Annual Cheshire Homes Pilgrimage for the sick. With his wife Mary who is from Dublin, and who he met in Lourdes looking after Irish Pilgrims, he felt there was a lack of a good service for ordinary Pilgrims.

To provide this service, twenty five years ago in 1979, they founded St. Peters Pilgrims  to take Pilgrims to Lourdes and other Pilgrimages centers as well. In that time they have arranged over 100,000 Pilgrimage journeys however are now getting older looking towards semi-retirement! They therefore no longer operate a twice weekly charter flight from London to Lourdes but are concentrating on the other popular pilgrimage destinations shown on this web site.

We remain a specialist Pilgrimage organisation not a general travel agent

Each Pilgrimage group is led by a Catholic Priest and accompanied by on of our experienced and dedicated Representatives and guides. We welcome Parish groups, families and individual Pilgrims from all over the world to join us in London.

The Team

You are just as likely to find Bob and/or Mary out on Pilgrimage with one of the groups. They are assisted by Kerry, Jackie, Ros, Dympna & Anne.

Our Mission...

To provide the opportunity & help needed to enable people to got o the world's great centers of Pilgrimages and whilst there to make a full & fruitful pilgrimage getting the maximum benefit at the most reasonable cost. Further, to enable people to visit, within a Christian Group and a Pilgrimage setting, the other great centers of Christian Pilgrimage.

Full Programmes

We show our Pilgrimage Programs as detailed as possible although sometimes events have to change around a little to fit in with what is actually happening in the place we are visiting and the authorities looking after them  All our programs enable you to make the best of your time and see as much as possible.  You are however completely free to join us for as much or as little of the programme as you wish.  Quiet, unhurried prayer is an important part of a pilgrimage and we have included some free time in all our programs for private prayer, shopping etc.  There will also be time to see some of the surrounding countryside and places of interest.

Friendly Groups

All our Pilgrimages are made up of one or two groups of around 30 to 45 Pilgrims. Each is led by a Priest and accompanied by our Representative (often Bob or mary themselves) and has it’s own programme. The Priest and Representative will get to know everyone and we can all get to know each other if we wish. The groups are generally very friendly and indeed many long lasting friendships are made. Often Pilgrims from one parish will be a group on their own but more often they form the nucleus of the group and we will arrange for others who have booked individually to join them and they will always be made very welcome. With St. Peter’s you are more likely to be one of sixty than one of six hundred!

Individuals and Families

Whether you're making your pilgrimage with your parish, friends or family, or on your own you will be very welcome and will soon become part of our friendly group.

Our Representatives

All our Representatives are dedicated "Pilgrimage People".  Before joining us all have been a regular Pilgrims and when not away they are all involved with their own parish life.  They also know the travel business to enable them to give you a truly professional service.  Their main concern, like all the St Peter's team, is to do everything they can to help you make a full and fruitful Pilgrimage.  We have a representative on every Pilgrimage.

Masses for our Pilgrims

Every year four Masses are said for all St Peter's Pilgrims, on the first & last Pilgrimages of the year, the feast of St Peter,  29th June, & the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, 11th February

Trust it to St. Peter's

Going abroad and staying in a foreign country can be daunting.  Trust your Pilgrimage to us and we will look after you all the way through.  When you make your booking you will receive an information sheet telling you all you need to do to prepare for your Pilgrimage, with help about passports, E1-11's., foreign money, clothing etc.  About 10 days before departure you will receive your tickets and  information about our destination and your pilgrimage, and if there is any other help or information you need you can always ring us, day or evening time.  If you are traveling by air we will meet you at the airport & help you with all the formalities of checking-in.  You will recognize your fellow Pilgrims by our badge and travel bag.  The priest leading the group and our representative will be with you throughout your pilgrimage. Trust St. Peter's to take the worries out of your journey & stay, leaving you to concentrate on making a fruitful & happy Pilgrimage.

We Care

At St. Peter’s we pride ourselves in caring for our pilgrims.  This is particularly important when something goes wrong, for example a pilgrim suddenly needs hospital care and cannot continue the pilgrimage or perhaps needs to return home urgently.  At a time like this St. Peter's will not just hand you over to an insurance company but we will look after you ourselves. At all our destinations we have local friends who will do this for us if we cannot be there ourselves.  We only ask you to get an E1.11 and, if you are under a doctor, his agreement to your making the pilgrimage.  Whatever happens on your pilgrimage you can rest assured you have the full care, support and back-up of St. Peter's.

Our Badge

The tradition of wearing a Pilgrimage badge goes back to the Middle Ages.  One of the oldest of these badges, mainly worn by Pilgrims going to Compostelo, was the clam shell.  This shell superimposed by the inverted cross of St. Peter who was crucified up-side-down and is the patron Saint of Lourdes forms the badge of St. Peter's Pilgrims. (Before being put to death, Peter told the Roman soldiers that he was not good enough to die in the same way as Christ did so they crucified him up-side-down.)
