Itinerary and (Optional) Programme 2004

Saturday 
08.25 am  Check-in at Heathrow Airport terminal 2
10.25 am  Our Alitalia Flight No AZ203 takes off. 
  1.55 pm  Land Rome Fiumicino Airport & by coach to Hotel

Sunday
10.30 am  International Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica. (Should the Pope Celebrate a special Mass on this day we will attend that Mass.) Afterwards we will move into St. Peter’s Square for the Papal Blessing (when the Holy Father is in Rome)
2.30 pm  Guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica, followed by a visit to the Tombs of the Popes. Prayer by the Tomb of St. Peter.
(Optional) visit to the roof & dome of St. Peter’s Basilica. View the beautiful mosaics on the inside of the dome. Climbing to the Lantran view the wonderful splendour of the City of Rome and Vatican City.
8.00 pm  Optional excursion “Rome by Night” including dinner in Trastevere area.

Monday 
8.00 am  Our coach will take us to the Catacombs where we will have a guided visit and celebrate mass. Then we will visit the Basilica of St. Paul outside the walls. 
2.00 pm  Guided tour of Christian Rome with the Basilicas of St. Mary Major, St John Latern & the Holy Stairs.

Tuesday
am  Our coach departs early morning for our full day visit to Assisi. We visit the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, see the Chapel of the Portiuncula.
pm  Guided tour of the Basilica of St. Francis with it’s beautiful Giotto frescos. Visit the Basilica of St. Clare. 

Wednesday
9.00 am  We attend the General Papal Audience. (when the Holy Father is in Rome)
1.30 pm  Optional tour to Frascati where we will visit the Cathedral, taste some of the local wine. We then drive to Castel Gandolfo which is the summer residence of the Holy Father. Dinner in a restaurant over looking Lake Albano.

Thursday
(Optional) day excursion to Subiaco & Monte Cassion. We visit the “Holy Cave” in Subiaco where St. Benedict lived as a hermit. We will have a guided tour and celebrate Mass. Continue our drive through the beautiful hills south to Monte Cassino. We will have a guided tour of the monastery and see the War Graves.

Friday
am   Early Mass in the Crypt of St. Peter’s Basilica. 
9.00 am Guided visit to the Vatican Gardens, Sistine Chapel &Vatican Museum. 
pm  At Leisure in Rome 

Saturday
        am   Mass and free morning
4.55 pm  Our Alitalia flight AZ208 takes off.
6.35 pm  Land Heathrow Airport. - Terminal 2.

Notes:- Dinner in a restaurant near our hotel, breakfast (in our hotel) each day will be arranged at a time to suit each day’s programme. Mass will be arranged each day at a suitable chapel. Flight times may change. 

Coming from outside the UK?  If you would like to make your own arrangements and fly direct to Rome and meet us at the airport or the hotel there is a discount of £140.00 on these prices.
